Homecoming: Campus Classic
This is my second time running in the Homecoming 5k, Campus Classic, and my third 5k race ever. They give a pretty cool break down of how well you ran, I don’t have anything to compare it to but I thought I would share.
Overall: 221
Chiptime: 23:58
Class: M 20-24
class_pos: 45
total_pace: 7:44/M
The part that really surprised me was my pace with a 7:44 min mile. In high school I don’t think I could run 1 mile much faster than 8:00 min.
It was a lot of fun to run the race again and this year my brother joined me and was part of the thousand or so others running through campus. It’s a great event and I to be able to do it at least another year.
“Today we dine in Lansing”
That’s right students from across the state of Michigan descended on its capital to let its legislators know one thing, stop putting the financial burden on the backs of the students.
The message was heard buy legislators in the form of a rally held on the capital lawn and talking with them in their offices.
I spent the morning with about a dozen Western Michigan University students lobbying legislators in their offices then joined hundreds of my peers on the lawn of the capital.
We can only hope that our message will be taken to heart and action and an investment in Higher Education will be taken.

- Stop putting the financial burden on the students and fund higher education fairly.

- Kalamazoo Farmer’s Market – I had no clue this was here but I think I need to check it out.
End to a Season
Summer is quickly coming to a close and I have to say I’m not to upset about that. It has been a great summer, orientation was a blast and I still miss it and then staying in Kalamazoo for the second half has been a great experience to have too.
In just over a week I will be done with my class and will be moving back into Ackley/Shilling to begin my third year of RA training. I’m hoping there third one is a charm. Just kidding, each year has been great and with the insight from previous years and this summer I am very much looking forward to the year.
At this point I already have the next three weeks booked solid. I would like to have all the free time in the world just to hang out with friends that are coming back to town but that will have to wait until school begins. Or maybe little snippets here and there when the clouds of schedules open.
